General info

The 8th Karmapa course will not be as luxurious as the International Summer Course, but we think that we will be able to provide all the essentials you need for a great retreat.

CATERING

We will provide food three times a day, all meals are included in the course price. The retreat is essentially vegetarian, but some cold meats will be available at breakfast (except on the day of the initiation), for those who cannot survive without it! Please remember to bring your plates and cutlery with you.

The retreat is alcohol free, therefore please refrain from bringing any alcohol on site.

CHILDCARE

Due to the nature of the retreat (i.e. we are treating it like doing your first Phowa) we are not able to provide childcare. If you wish to bring a partner, family member or friend with you to look after your children, they will get a special price.

HELP

For this course, we need help with everything from building up to cooking lunch to decorating the gompa and dissolving the whole event again. We absolutely need support for the retreat from friends who do not meditate on the 8th Karmapa yet. There are favorable prices for these real bodhisattvas, an evening program and a nice surprise at the end, if you would like to join the team please email: 8karmapa-course@europe-center.org. For those practicing on the 8th Karmapa, we would ask that if you have the surplus to spend an hour or two supporting the course, stop by the Job Center, in the Dining Tent; we would be very happy to see you.

TRANSLATIONS

The entire course will be given English (and in some cases Tibetan with English translation!). Translation into all necessary languages will be provided on site. Please, bring your own radios in order to receive the translation in your own language. You can also rent radios onsite.

PARKING AND SHUTTLE SERVICE (see the map)

You can reach our beautiful EC only via the shuttle service. Private cars or buses cannot directly access the EC. Please use the any of the official car parks in Immenstadt, except P3 as it closed from Monday 14 September and your car maybe towed away!  A shuttle service will bring you and your luggage directly to the course – meeting point to be confirmed. We will post more information as we have it!

  • The price for the shuttle will be € 1,- per trip.

Although there are several car parks in Immenstadt, if possible, please come by train.
