Buddhist meeting – Several thousands of followers meet for a course at Gut Hochreute

Immenstadt-Bühl | kep | Yesterday at 3 a.m. it was happening again. The tent areas around Gut Hochreute turned into i single large meditation centre: At the start of the largest buddhist meeting in Germany, several thousands followers of the Karma Kagyu Tradition (which is the most widespread school amongst German Buddhists) above the lake „Großer Alpsee“.
As last year, the highest spiritual dignitary of this tradition , the 26-year-old Karmapa Thaye Dorje, came to Immenstadt to lead the first meditation on the buddha of limitless light. The exiled Tibetan talked about a „wonderful place in an impressive landscape“, which would be ideal „to exchange experiences with others and integrate them into one’s lives.“ Lama Ole Nydahl, who bought the 50 hectare sized land around Gut Hochreute in May 2007 for the foundation „Buddhismus Stiftung Diamantweg“, praised the Tibetan head as a „modest person with a lot of charisma“. The summer course with lectures, meditations and buddhist ceremonies will take place until 16 August.
