20 years on the road – transmission weekend with Caty & Tomek

Caty Hartung and Tomek Lehnert will come together at the Europe Center to tell us about their experiences from their many years on the road with Lama Ole. They have both worked closely with Lama Ole for more than 20 years, and the chance to hear their stories and insights from the two of them together will be unforgettable.

Book & meditation retreat – Lama Ole at the EC

We have thought hard how to make the most out of them for everybody – giving Lama Ole enough space for focused and undisturbed work and our friends a possibility to meditate in his power field. Traveling with the Lama – the last Transmission weekend of 2011

End of the year is a good time to make traveling plans for the next one coming. When a friend comes from a tour with the Lama and starts to recount all the stories and experiences, it’s easy to get excited and inspired to hit the road ourselves.

This is exactly what the last transmission weekend of 2011 is about. But don’t expect last year’s bus tour stories – our guests will be people who were on the road already when Lama Ole and Hannah first brought Diamond Way Buddhism to the West- some traveled even with the 16th Karmapa.

Complaint against zoning

We recently got to know that in early August 2011, 10 citizens of Immenstadt—members of the local Bund Naturschutz (nature protection)—filed a “Popular Action” against the City of Immenstadt and the District Administration of Oberallgäu. This court proceeding might have an impact on us and our construction process. We were warmly welcomed by the community members of Immenstadt, and since 2007 we have experienced a lot of openness and support, especially during the Summer Courses, therefore, we are surprised by this action.

With this action, the plaintiffs go against the zoning plan for the construction and extension of the Europe Center, which was accepted by the City of Immenstadt. As part of this „Popular Action“, the Bavarian Constitutional Court will be reviewing the zoning laws and statutes with respect to their compatibility with the Bavarian Constitution.

We are of course concerned, but hope that our planned schedule can be met without any significant delays. Whatever happens, we will keep you updated and our fundraising campaign more.ec will continue as planned.

Kagyu Masters – the next transmission weekend is coming!

There are still two transmission weekend ahead of us at the Europe Center until the end of the year. The first of them will focus on the great Kagyu Masters and the Mahamudra transmission lineage. Book 7-9 October in your diary for that.

So far Manfred Seegers and Kerstin Seifert have confirmed their participation.

Thangka painter Dawa at the EC

Dawa, Urken Lama from Nepal, is a master of the Karma Gadri style of Tibetan painting living with his wife and daughters in Rumtek, Sikkim (India). he new the 16th Karmapa and is a close student of the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje.

On Friday evening at 20:00, Dawa will give a lecture on the iconography of the Karma Kagyu style – the so called Karma Gadri, at the Europe Center. The lecture is for everyone, not only those who are attending the painting course that follows.

moreEC campaign & website launch

Dear friends and supporters,

Even before we had it, the Europe Center idea symbolized the rising international spirit of Diamond Way Buddhism. In 2007, this decade-old wish materialized with Gut Hochreute in the foothills of the German Alps. Building on what was already present, we began with the first International Summer Course and then made the most out of the 4 following years. Thanks to that, thousands have already caught the “international EC virus” and our over 600 centers worldwide are today interconnected like never before.

Now it’s time to finish what we started. From the experience gained arose a natural next step, extending the EC with a large new gompa, living space for guests & residents, and various maintenance and working areas. Once finished, the potential of the EC will fully blossom, making all its functions accessible to ever more people: hosting big courses with our Lamas throughout the year, nurturing a lively international exchange, showing a proud, mature face of Diamond Way Buddhism to the world and much more.

In order to realize this vision, we will again bring together the entire Diamond Way sangha in a worldwide effort to collect the necessary funds, showing the power of many as we did in 2007. At the upcoming EC Summer Course, we will officially launch the moreEC fundraising campaign, and we want to invite you to take a part in the event whether in person or via streaming.
