Immenstadt   If everything goes as planned by the new owners, the transformation of Gut Hochreute into a Buddhist center will begin in spring 2008. As reported, the „Diamond Way Foundation“ plans a seminar and event house with 60 beds on the 48 hectare area above the Alpsee. The construction management of the major project cleared the next hurdle on Thursday evening: Immenstadt‘s building committee unanimously approved the project-based development plan and the change to the land development plan. In about two weeks, a public display and the participation of public interest groups will follow.

Gradual development

The 1910 manorial estate with its three main buildings (it is listed as a rare complete art nouveau ensemble) will be gradually renovated and developed during a five-year period, „while seriously considering the existing structure“, as the head of the building department Adi Martin, stressed to the committee. Generally the foundation proved to be „extremely constructive“ during the discussions and agreed to all intentions of the city without discussion, praised mayor Gerd Bischoff.

According to Martin, one of these things is the connection of the center to the sewer and water supply systems of the city. The measure which is estimated to cost about 700,000 Euros will be started in spring if possible. An important further demand of the city: A traffic contract, which determines the accessibility of the Buddhist center. The „Trieblingser Weg“ for residents and seminar visitors as non-public access road. However, for major events (which will take place once a year, according to the foundation) use of the road will not be permitted.

„For the up to 2800 visitors, there will be shuttle buses to and from about 500 special parking places“, says Martin. Public parking places will remain excluded. And another thing is clearly settled: Public trails on the area will remain open to the public. And more: They are planned to become partly official trails.

Info: Information about the new center is available at all times in a mini exhibition in the greenhouse of Gut Hochreute.

The plans in detail

  • In the domineering building, the villa which is visible from far away, rooms for seminars and administration are planned. (According to the plan, 20 persons will permanently have rooms there).
  • The existing garages will be converted into reception and lounge.
  • Stables and barn will be transformed into guest rooms and dining room and other rooms.
  • A new building will contain event room, foyer and side rooms.
  • 40 parking places for residents and seminar visitors.
  • Two big tents for events (one for food catering for the guests)
  • Campsite with infrastructure above the main building.

A Europe-wide center for Buddhist meditation courses, trainings and study programs is planned at Gut Hochreute.
