Immenstadt –   Buddhas in Bayern: 15 Buddhist Centers introduce themselves.
The Europe Center combines the Bavaria-wide open house with the 100th anniversary of  Gut Hochreute in Immenstadt on Sunday, the 11th of September from11 am to 6 pm: Past, Present and Future – information, presentations, guided tours and meditations.

“Of course, interested people are always welcome” explained Karola Schneider- Waldner, Buddhist teacher from the association “Bavarian Buddhist Centers of the Karma Kagyu Lineage”, but during an open house the inhibition threshold is lower. “Then one can drop by without taking part in a lecture or a meditation.”

What is meditation? How is Buddhism lived in day to day life? What goes on in a Buddhist center? And what visions do Buddhists have for their lives? Visitors can get answers to these and other questions on Sunday the 11th of September from 11 am to 6 pm at the Europe Center in Immenstadt. Moreover, the 100 anniversary of Gut Hochreute will be celebrated.

Throughout the day there will be guided tours through the historic Art Nouveau villa and through an exhibition about the 100th anniversary of Gut Hochreute as well as short introductory lectures about Buddhism and guided meditations suitable for non-Buddhists.

On the 11th of September there is an opportunity to get a first hand impression of how Buddhists combine professional and family life, attitudes and meditation. Guests will be shuttled up to the event location from the Froschweiher parking lot.

All of the participating centers belong to the Karma Kagyu tradition of Tibetan Buddhism which was founded in the 11th century and is the most widespread form of Buddhism in Germany today. The lineage conveys Diamond Way Buddhism which was taught by Buddha himself and in which the direct experience of the nature of mind during meditation plays a major role.

The starting point is self responsibility for one’s own life. Meditation should not only calm but also allow Buddha’s theoretical explainations to become part of ones own experience and be applied to daily life. The goal of Diamond Way Buddhism is the full development of the inherent human potential of body, speech and mind.
