Last weekend we had the first “transmission weekend” at the EC. A few days before the first people arrived, already bringing a lot of inspiration. The first lecture was planned on Friday evening with Wojtek Tracewski, who could not come because of fever and illness. However we managed to listen to amazing Erik Weiss instead. He gave an inspiring lecture on Teacher and student relationship. Saturday morning Sasha Koibagarov told many great stories about the beginning of Buddhism in Russia and after a tasty lunch Edita shared the stories from the first wild years in dharma with us.
The evening started with the presentation of the pictures from 70s, 80s and 90s and then Erik, Sasha, Caty, Edita and also Jesper from America started to tell amazing stories from the “old times”. During this time other friends got a microphone as well so they could contribute with their memories. Around midnight Grisha from Russia was also asked to share his deep knowledge and from than on the evening turned even wilder :)
The next day Caty did a session of questions and answers and explained how the centers looked like more than 20 years ago and how they have been transformed the last years. She also shared many stories from traveling with Lama Ole.
Everybody really understood how important and inspiring is to share many levels and depths of the transmission of our teachings and style over the years in different countries. Of course we are aware of the fact, that this weekend had limited capacity due to cold winter conditions, which was painful for us to do, but we already plan many other weekends like that for you. In warmer days everything will be much easier and we would be able to host more people here. You can already look forward to the next one coming next year. And dear friends, please understand that we cannot make streaming from this event, because “the transmission weekend” should be kept as oral transmission.
