Christmas at the Europe Center

December 27th, 2015

We had a lovely Christmas evening with around 40 friends at the EC…

We enjoyed the delicious duck and other specialties prepared by the Christmas dinner team and later on exchanged presents, danced and had nice chats with each other.

In the days to follow the gang got to enjoy some well-deserved holiday time: long breakfasts, meditations, trips to the ice-skating rink in Immenstadt and sunny hikes in the mountains!

As every year, we got together to sign over 700 New Year’s cards to send to the Diamond Way Buddhist Centers around the globe and to neighbors and friends.

However, something was slightly different this year! Instead of drinking hot glogg and eating cookies close to the ovens inside, we took the card signing action outside in spring-like temperatures, wearing sun screen and sun glasses on our new terrace underneath the chestnut trees.

Have a nice holiday season, whereever you are!

Like every year, we are getting into the holiday spirit with our own traditions at the Europe Center!

Embracing Western culture, the kids went on a hike to “Siberia”, our own forest at the very top of the vast EC grounds, to find the perfect christmas tree for the new building and decorated it lovingly. In the meantime, the adults got together in the gompa for 12 hours of guru yoga meditation on the 16th Karmapa, which is also one of our winter traditions.

After all this sitting, all our strong men joined forces to get the huuuuge new carpet from Nepal up to the gompa – come soon and have a look at how beautiful it is! :)
