This is the international center of Diamond Way Buddhism of the Karma Kagyu lineage of Tibetan Buddhism under the auspices of the 17th Karmapa Thaye Dorje. The 1st Karmapa Düsum Khyenpa (1110-1193) is considered the first consciously reincarnated Lama of Tibet and is the founder of this Buddhist school, which originated with the historical Buddha.

Lama Ole Nydahl founded this center – as he did all of the more than 600 centers worldwide – by order of the 16th Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (1924-1981). It is run by the community of practitioners (Sangha) on a voluntary basis of trust, friendship and energy for the benefit of all. The funds for the purchase in 2007 were collected worldwide – the owner is the international Diamond Way Foundation based in Darmstadt.

Here live about 40 international residents of all ages together with many changing guests from all over the world. Once a year the big international summer course takes place.

Since the beginning we also strive for a proper treatment of nature here in the Allgäu. Several hectares of coniferous forest have already been converted into mixed forest, the leased pasture farming is managed extensively according to organic criteria. Fruit trees and native shrubs have been planted. Beyond the ecological compensation measures, we contribute to biodiversity. The increased occurrence of endangered or rare species confirms us.

The historic building from 1911 is a listed building. The new building was occupied in 2015. We strive for the most modern technical solutions and in the meantime the old building is also heated in a largely climate-neutral way.

Dies ist das internationale Zentrum des Diamantweg Buddhismus der Karma Kagyu Linie des tibetischen Buddhismus unter der Schirmherrschaft des 17. Karmapa Thaye Dorje. Der 1. Karmapa Düsum Khyenpa (1110-1193) gilt als der erste bewusst wiedergeborene Lama Tibets und ist der Begründer dieser Buddhistischen Schule, die ihren Ursprung beim historischen Buddha hat.

Lama Ole Nydahl gründete dieses Zentrum – so wie alle der über 600 Zentren weltweit – im Auftrag des 16. Karmapa Rangjung Rigpe Dorje (1924-1981). Es wird von der Gemeinschaft der Praktizierenden (Sangha) ehrenamtlich auf der Basis von Vertrauen, Freundschaft und Tatkraft zum Wohle aller geleitet. Die Mittel für den Kauf im Jahre 2007 wurden weltweit gesammelt – Eigentümerin ist die internationale Diamantweg Stiftung mit Sitz in Darmstadt.

Hier leben rund 40 internationale Bewohner aller Altersgruppen gemeinsam mit vielen wechselnden Gästen aus aller Welt. Einmal im Jahr findet der große internationale Sommerkurs statt.

Seit Anfang an bemühen wir uns auch um einen richtigen Umgang mit der Natur hier im Allgäu. Mehrere Hektar Nadelwald wurden bereits in Mischwald umgewandelt, die verpachtete Weidewirtschaft wird extensiv nach Bio-Kriterien geführt. Obstbäume und heimische Sträucher wurden gepflanzt. Über die ökologischen Ausgleichsmaßnahmen hinaus tragen wir zu Biodiversität bei. Das verstärkte Auftreten gefährdeter oder seltener Arten bestätigt uns.

Das historische Gebäude aus dem Jahre 1911 steht unter Denkmalschutz. Der Neubau wurde 2015 bezogen. Wir bemühen uns um modernste technische Lösungen und mittlerweile wird auch der Altbau weitgehend klimaneutral beheizt.
